SHERDOG FIGHT STATS
Krzysztof Soszynski was born August 2, 1977 in Stalowa Wola, Poland but moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada with his family when he was 10 years old. He was a star athlete at Maples Collegiate High School in Winnipeg on the soccer and football teams where he played linebacker and running back. Following high school, Soszynski entered the world of professional body-building and won first place at a Manitoba Bodybuilding event in 2000.
Soon after, he began a career in the wrestling ring where Soszynski was a popular bad guy in various Canadian wrestling promotions. However, after a wrestling camp in Calgary, Alberta with fellow wrestler, Bad News Brown, Soszynski became hooked on submissions and enrolled in a mixed martial arts gym in Winnipeg.
Although Krzysztof had never been involved in any altercations he decided a career in mixed martial arts was a worthy challenge. He had his first fight after five months of training and has not looked back since. After training with Shawn Tompkins and Bas Rutten he went on to win the TKO Heavyweight belt in Montreal, Quebec in 2006. Krzysztof now has over 30 fights to his name. He has fought in the UFC, HD Net Fights, IFL, TKO, Strikeforce and many other organizations across North America.
Soszynski was a season 8 cast member for UFC’s reality show ‘The Ultimate Fighter’. Initailly thought an unlikely candidate, Krzysztof's personality caught the attention of producers and he was offered an opportunity to fight his way in the house. And that he did. He impressed UFC President Dana White and coaches Frank Mir and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira with a 17 second knock out against Mike Stewart and secured his place in TUF history. Dana called Krzysztof a "caged animal" after the fight and it showed in training, his fights and at the house. He became the lead pranster on the show experimenting with Shrink-wrap, body bags and itching powder. Read more about Krzysztof's experiences on The Ultimate Fighter in his blogs.
Soszynski currently trains in Southern California at great gyms such as Reign (Mark Munoz), Alliance (Brandon Vera) and Team Quest (Dan Henderson). When Krzysztof is in Winnipeg you can find him at Professional Edge with head strength and conditioning coach Jordan Cieciwa.
Krzysztof is married to Geneviève and has a 14 year old son, Nicholas.
